Matsuri

 

Otakon is proud to present the Matsuri, returning for the first time since our move to DC as we celebrate our 30th year. 

The Matsuri will run from 4-8pm on August 1, 2024, with fun for all ages.  Food will be available for purchase from food trucks parked on K Street.

The Matsuri is an outdoor, free to all event taking place on the grounds of the Apple Carnegie Library (across the street from the WEWCC).  Join us for free activities:

• Crafts
• Yard games
• Kids’ activities
• Photo Ops
• Main Stage performances ranging from concerts and idol performances to shisa and sumo demonstrations

Come make a birthday card for Otakon, share a memory, make a wish, and learn more about Otakon as you connect with our partners including the Embassy of Japan, JASWDC, JET, and more! Explore east Asian culture as you learn to make koi kites, do traditional braiding, or create at any of our crafting booths. Or you can grab a bite at one of the food trucks we’ll have there all afternoon, as you play some giant versions of your favorite games.

Come and celebrate 30 years of Otakon with us, see what we’re about, try a new craft or game, and have a great time.  Rain or shine, we will have a blast together at the Otakon Matsuri!
